Acne Spot Treatment

Acne Spot Treatment is a powerful formula to help minimize the severity of current acne breakouts.

Below is a sampling of some of the key ingredients that have been used in formulating our Acne Spot Treatment. (We will work with you to formulate your own unique product if you desire certain other ingredients.)

Benzoyl Peroxide works as a peeling agent, increasing skin turnover and, thus reducing the number of comedones, or blocked pores. It acts as an antiseptic and oxidizing agent.

In addition to the above FDA monographed active agent we have included the following natural ingredients that reduce the drying effects of Benzoyl Peroxide while improving the health of the skin.

Montmorillonite (Also known as Green Clay)
This odorless clay form has a neutral pH. It can penetrate the inner layers of the skin and is a blend of naturally balanced minerals and trace minerals.
Green clay has been known for centuries to:

• Have an antiseptic action
• Reduce redness
• Cleanse
• Mineralize
• Exfoliate
• Detoxify
• Regenerate cells
• Act as anti-wrinkle
• Have a relaxing action

Glucosamine HCL & Algae Extract & Yeast Extract & Urea is a unique natural exfoliating complex which can activate both epidermal and dermal cells resulting in improved cell renewal. It also increases production of hyaluronic acid and collagen. Clinical tests have shown that mature skin group (average age 67 years) using this complex achieved a comparable skin renewal rate to the young adult group (average age 29 years) with untreated skin.

Butyl avocadate contains oil esters from the Avocado and provides a unique solution for the problems caused by hyperseborrhoea, an increase in sebum secretion by the sebaceous gland. Dermatologists evaluated the condition of a group of volunteer’s skin. They noted an average of 30% in the decrease of sebhorrhoea. In just 3 weeks, butyl avocadate proved its effectiveness in drastically reducing excessive production of facial sebum. Sebum is an oily substance secreted by the sebaceous glands of the skin.

Copaifera officinalis (balsam copaiba) resin, carapa guaianensis seed oil, euterpe oleracea pulp oil - These constituents were extracted from natural products from the rain forest and were chosen because of their special properties for healthy skin that include:

• Powerful natural antioxidants that provide protection against enviromental damage to the skin
• Anti-inflammatory action and calming effect
• Germicide obtained from the essential oil and is excellent for preventing infections.

Licorice extract (Glycyrrhiza inflata)

• A sebum regulator that can be compared to the activity of Benzoyl Peroxide. Sebum is an oily substance secreted by the sebaceous glands of the skin.
• Kills Propionibacterium Acnes bacteria where Benzoyl Peroxide does not.
• Blocks androgen activity of the sebaceous gland’s overproduction of sebum resulting in acne.
• Inhibits lipase enzyme activity produced by bacteria on the skin’s surface and in pores thereby decreasing inflammation.
• Inhibitory Action of Allergic and Inflammatory Response.
• Suppressant Action of Oxidative Damage.
